Mailchimp has stepped up their game and added a lot of nice functionality with more promised for the future, but there is bad news for everyone who was using the free level.
If you are one of the free level users, here are two things you will find the next time you log in:
- you can no longer schedule emails to send at a later date/time.
- the allowable size of your address book has changed, the pricing is now determined differently, I recommend reading David Gaughran’s story here or straight from Mailchimp here.
I am a Constant Contact Certified Implementer, however I also use Mailchimp with several of my clients. Most easily fall into the category of minimal users, and Mailchimp has offered them the ability to send their very infrequent emails to their small lists for many years. That has now changed. In some cases that’s a good thing, they really should be doing more with their email campaigns so we will now evaluate their options to determine if they should change or begin using one of Mailchimp’s paid plans.
Constant Contact came out with a summary of the changes to Mailchimp and how Constant Contact now compares. I encourage you to look here MailChimp Comparison. If you are one of the free Mailchimp plan users, take time to log in and see if your account has been impacted. If it is and you want to review your options, contact me, I’m happy to help.
